cardboardband: Soundgarden: “Live to Rise”, “The Avengers”. Super Hero + Super Soundtrack = Success   By: Jaime Zambrano. Illustration by: Bárbara Valdés. “Live to rise” is the new of Soundgarden, but not necessarily an advance as is his new album, as did the theme from scratch for the movie “The Avengers”.   The song is a mixture between Soundgarden and Chris Cornell’s solo style, with a good guitar riff over acoustic guitar and Cornell’s melody. It works pretty well for me, but the old Soundgarden fans might find it a bit soft.   Here is the link to download the single: http://tinyurl.com/78ej6wx __________________________________________________________________ “Live to Rise” es lo nuevo de Soundgarden, pero no necesariamente es un adelanto de como viene su nuevo disco, ya que hicieron el tema desde cero para la película The Avengers. La canción resulta de una mezcla entre Soundgarden y el estilo solista de Chris Cornell, con un buen riff de guitarra más guitarra acústica y la melodía de Cornell. cardboardband: Cage The Elephant, Lollapalooza Chile: “Esperen unos años” Por: Jaime Zambrano Ilustración: Bárbara Valdés Siempre que voy a festivales donde tocan varias bandas, escucho las que me gustan, algunas por curiosidad y de otras definitivamente arranco. De las bandas curiosas de Lollapalooza Chile 2012 la que me dejo con un buen gustito en las orejas fue Cage the Elephant. Ésta banda de rock alternativo, nació en Kentucky, USA a mediados del 2006. Se caracterizan por tener un sonido sencillo, directo al hueso, 2 notas en el bajo y a rockear. También se declaran  admiradores de Foo Fighters, incluso les escribieron una carta, se reunieron con ellos y lograron abrir varios shows del tour “Wasting Light”. Además, el baterista Jared Champion sufrió de apendicitis, y adivinen quien lo reemplazo tomando las baquetas; Dave Grohl. Desde que comenzaron su show con la canción “In One Ear” se siente su energía y su entrega. Matthew Schultz, vocalista, cabecea y mueve su melena mientras sostiene el micrófono. Toda esta energía es devuelta por el público, que prende en el acto. Para aumentar la efervescencia, el histriónico Schultz se tira al público más de una vez desatando la fiesta en la cancha. A través de su espectáculo suenan los temas “2024”, “Aberdeen” y “Back Against the Wall” que son de oreja; poner play y a disfrutar. Terminan su show con el sonido crudo y bien marcado de “Sabertooth Tiger”  dejándolo todo en el escenario, se nota que disfrutan lo que hacen y que no están solo por compromiso. Con el paso del tiempo, me he dado cuenta que por lo general las bandas emergentes que traen a estos festivales prometen mucho más de lo que son, pero no hay que ser experto para saber que se esperan buenos aportes de este grupo en el futuro.
